Verbs in past can be formed adding “ed” with most verbs
- Example: Start => started
- Example: Kill => killed
- Example> Jump => jumped

If the verb ends in “e” you only add “d”
- Example: Agree => agreed
- Example: Like => liked
- Example> Escape => escaped

If a verb ends in a vowel and a consonant, the consonant is usually doubled before -ed.
- Example: Stop → stopped
- Example: Plan → planned

If a verb ends in consonant and -y, you take off the y and add -ied.
- Example: Try → tried
- Example: Carry → carried

But if the word ends in a vowel and -y, you add -ed.
- Example: play → played
- Example: enjoy → enjoyed
